We’ve all been there. We’re watching our favorite cartoon or even a local news station. When all of a sudden the screen turns a light hint of gray. We are awakened to three consecutive beeps. A mans voice shrouded in static then tells us we are witnessing a monthly “Emergency Warning” check. In the event of a storm, of any kind, you would not only be informed of the location, time, magnitude, but also any steps useful for safety. So what right? ….Wrong! These monthly storm warnings on TV, annoying as they are, have saved countless lives and have minimized damages to homes, cars, etc. Unfortunately, the storms in our lives don’t have a similar check. Oftentimes, a storm or a trial, is hurled at us from nowhere and we are expected to cope, get along, or like many Christians do. Fall back.
But what do the Scriptures tell us of the storms and trials we WILL face? Are we just supposed to throw our hands up in defeat? How about just backing off of this “Jesus thing” a little. Maybe only going to church two Sundays instead of four or even putting less tithe in at offering time. Fortunately, our lord and Savior didn’t want us to be taken aback concerning the fiery trials and setbacks in our lives. His written word has been given to us to relay his thoughts, attitudes, and even steps we should take in the trial.
When we are in a storm or a trial in our lives, its important to assess the situation. Is what your going through the result of a lack of wisdom? The scripture tells us in Ecclesiastes7:12 For wisdom is protection just as money is protection, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors. Some of the storms in life, money just can’t save you. The storm has intellect and it already knows payday isn’t for another three days. Wisdom can save your life and thank God he gives wisdom liberally. Let any man James 1:5 who lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. This precious wisdom God gives is from above. Beware of a wisdom you can receive that is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. Only the scriptures can provide you with Gods wisdom.
Devil ..I rebuke YOu!!
Before he left this earth and finished his earthly ministry, Jesus gave us a bit of useful information. “You have an adversary.” Whoa? Yes. There is a society that wants nothing more than to see you defeated ,persecuted, and faithless. They make it their mission to see your faith fail, just like Peter in Luke 22:32, and if the circumstances are right, they can take you right on out of here.We actually call these highly organized societies, principalities and powers. It is not uncommon to see these entities creating storms and trials in peoples lives, but as a born again, spirit-filled believers, we aren’t defenseless. Christ on the cross forever rendered these enemies powerless against us. We have authority through Christ and in Christ, to bind and loose; stopping every demonic attack in our lives. Christians more than ever have to learn how to face off in these storms and trials. When the enemy throws the first punch, he must know if he comes at you one way, and you catch him, he’s leaving in seven Deuteronomy 28:7 says! This is war. Stop sitting there hoping the enemy will stop the storm, because he wants to destroy you. How will we know if the storm is demonic in nature? We have on the inside of us the third person of the trinity. As you spend time training yourself to be close to holy spirit, you will know in your human spirit that something is Off. The scripture says in Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are the Sons of God simply meaning that there is an interaction within us with him. That’s another teaching altogether but basically our spirit is joined with the Spirit of God! Don’t believe me just watch! Corinthians 6:17.
Lean on me, my brotha!
A lot of times in the storms or trials of life, it will be tempting to keep what your going through to yourself. DONT! You don’t look anymore or any less spiritual if you let someone know. We just read in Revelation, that the saints overcame by the word of their testimony. You could be a casualty of battle if you don’t testify. The NIV version in Proverbs 17:17 says A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. Stop thinking your friends are there to like your Facebook post, or your brothers are there to chill and hang out all the time. The scripture says your brother or someone you trust EXIST for this time in your life, not for the sunny days. Somebody said “God is my friend. “Well praise God! Glory! That is true, but God uses people to comfort you in ways he can’t. So find a brotha . Find me Praise God! Don’t forsake the gathering or assembling of fellow believers. Notice I said fellow believers and not the unrighteous. We don’t have fellowship with people who don’t dwell in the light of Gods holy word or will give us some feel good remedy. Often times in a storm, we are vulnerable and the enemy will use this time to speak into your life. We wont let him. We want to be counted among the righteous because in the multitude of counselors there’s safety. I’m almost done so don’t shout me down.
The most important thing about a trial is knowing that when God sees you, he sees you in his Son Jesus. You can’t mess up enough things in your life not to qualify for Gods grace in your situation. Your roots are deep seated in righteousness and you will come out strong, vibrant, and intact because God is able to make all grace abound to you. Some trials and storms, God just wants to test you to see where your allegiance lies. Simple as that. You didn’t do anything right or wrong. We are pilgrims here on this Earth, looking to our redeemed state; our heavenly estate (hey that rhymes). Everything we have; our houses, cars, money, jobs, children, husbands, and wives are all his. He allows us to obtain these things for the work of ministry. Nothing else. We’re even supposed to love our spouse As Christ loves the Church. See God is mission minded not Earthly minded like some of us. Look at Jesus’s life. The earth is the lords, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it Psalms says. Don’t overlook that verse; It says all who. Sometimes he takes them. He’s God. Just believe that if he does, his thoughts toward you are good, and greater is coming. Pick up that Bible and seek Godly counsel for your situation. So many people in the scripture have had their back to the wall, only to come out unscathed. Relax and stay in Faith! Be anxious for nothing.
Hopes this helps someone.
